Soy germ isoflavones for Bladder Health: Evidence, Interactions and Cautions
Soy germ isoflavones is an ingredient used in bladder supplements marketed to women. Below is what it has actually been studied for, how strong that evidence is, the drug interactions and cautions on record, and the primary source our grade rests on — all drawn from the HerWellReport ingredient dataset.
Also sold as: soy isoflavone extract
What the evidence says about Soy germ isoflavones
Plausible mechanism via oestrogen-sensitive bladder and urethral tissue, tested mostly in small combination studies rather than alone. See the separate soy isoflavones row for the menopause evidence. The bladder evidence rests on a single 2014 trial of a pumpkin seed plus soy germ combination product, funded by the ingredient supplier and not indexed in PubMed. We have found no trial of soy germ on its own for urinary symptoms, which is why no primary source is linked here.
The grade "limited" means: limited — One or two small human trials, or trials for a closely related outcome. Grades are explained in full on our methodology page.
We have not yet re-verified a single primary source for this entry; the grade rests on the sources cited in our article linked below. This gap is disclosed on our press and data page.
Soy germ isoflavones drug interactions
No documented drug interactions in the sources we checked. That is not the same as proof of safety alongside your medication — it usually means the question has not been studied. Ask a pharmacist before combining it with prescription drugs.
